SUMMER IN FLORIDA

If you plan on doing a TV production in Florida from July-Sept then bring a rain coat for the traditional afternoon 4 o'clock shower. Chances are very high during this time of year that you will get rained out by the end of the day. My suggestion is to get an early start so that you can squeeze as much shooting in before you have to shut down. Be prepared with tons of plastic, large trashbags, tents anything you can bring to protect your equipment from water, steam and humidity. Also be very prepared for loud lightning and thunder-crashes throughout the day. Last summer when I shot for Montel we had to keep doing retakes as the hit's came every 30 seconds during the interview. I've lived in this state for a long time and trust me it gets scary. Sometimes it's Sunny and then Whamo! You're running for your life. This is supposed to be the lightning capitol of the world folks and it's true. It's flashing and crashing outside as I type this. Why else would we name our Hockey team the Lightning. Anyway while you're doing the regular production swing your camera and get some great Lightning sky shots for the Weather Channel. That's all for now. Contact me at 813-453-0872 or e-mail gene@floridafootage.com
